OFFICE CHALLENGE

The Brief

In view that there will be commercial Grade-A office space available in a high-rise business tower on Sheikh Zayed Road, with each floor containing multiple office spaces. This project is to design and conceptualise a refurbished Category B (fully fitted out with high spec fit-out) office space in a post-COVID-19 world.

The project is a single story, corner office space of 5,000sqft, with floor to ceiling windows and an in-house pantry and toilet. Also included are temporary office structures that contestants are free to remove as they see fit. Within the office space there are two load-bearing pillars that cannot be altered or moved. The office is located on the 40th floor, facing North and West.

Participants will be required to document their roadmap (pre- and post-execution), so that judges can understand their workflows. In addition, a record of the various tools used will also need to be shared. Contestants are encouraged to visualise the location, providing a holistic, location specific view using Navis or Infraworks (or even Google Earth)

The site is approximately 5,000sqft in size.

RETAIL CHALLENGE

The Brief

This challenge will focus on the design and conceptualisation of shell and core retail space in a newly opened shopping mall in Dubai, with the space bordered by active retail outlets on either side. The project is in a central area of the shopping mall and has an approximate size of 8,000sqft. Both sides of the space will be open to customer throughfares and will have high ceilings containing exposed HVAC and lighting elements.
